Rosetta 'Rose' Atchison, 83, of Brunswick, passed away August 2, 2026, at Pruitt Health & Rehabilitation in Brunswick, GA.

Services to celebrate Rose's life will be held at a later date in LaGrange, KY.

Rose was born October 17, 1942, in Pine Knot, KY to Emma Kelly Maddux. She had lived in LaGrange, KY all her life, with her adoptive parents George Thomas and Mary Bell Curtis, until moving to Brunswick in 2021. Rose retired from Clayton & Lambert Steel Manufacturing, and LaGrange Water Company. Rose was a devout christian, a member of Dehaven Baptist Church, then LaGrange Baptist Church of LaGrange KY. Rose was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class and served on the Coffee Club Committee at LaGrange Baptist Church. She was a member of the Oldham County Homemakers’ Association, enjoyed crafting, quilting and spoiling her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her son, Tom McDonald (Jonetta) of Brunswick, GA, a daughter-in-law, Amiee McDonald of Louisville, KY, stepsons, Rick Atchison (Carol) of Jeffersonville IN and Robert Atchison (Yulie) of Prospect, KY, a brother, Robert E. Maddox (Mary) of Huntsville, Texas, grandchildren, Saranne Blayne McDonald, Madison Rose McDonald, Kyle Atchison, and Kristopher Atchison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard T. Atchison, a son Troy Milton McDonald, brothers, John Maddux, Sr., Paul E. Maddux, Edward Maddux, George Alan Jackson, and a sister, Betty Snowden, and several nieces and nephews.
