Sanford Christian Murck was born in New York City, grew up on Long Island and attended Buckley County Day School and Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York. He was graduated from the College of Willliam and Mary in 1960 and served three years in Army intelligence in Washington, DC. Subsequently, he was employed by BBDO, an advertising agency in New York City.

He was later transferred to their office in Cleveland, Ohio where he met his future wife, Dryden. They lived there for a number of years before he accepted a job as Senior Vice President of Rowe International in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He moved to New Jersey several years later to their headquarters location.

In 1991, he took early retirement and moved with his wife to The Landings in Savannah, Georgia. While at The Landings he became an accomplished artist and a fine tennis player. He served as Captain of the men's 4.0 tennis team which won the state championship. Sanford travelled extensively during his career to Europe, including Sweden, England and Yugoslavia, and to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Central America. He and his wife loved to cruise to the Carribean where he designed and built a home on Palm Island in the Grenadines. He lived a rewarding life and is survived by his wife, two children, Christian and Edward, two stepchildren, Elizabeth and Morris, his brother William and, of course, his wife Dryden. He has requested that no ceremony he held, but that his friends will drink a toast to his memory.
