Shelly Shastid Carrigan, 64, of Brunswick, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00, at Chapman Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.
Mrs. Carrigan was born November 23, 1953, in Chulavista, CA, to Theodore Johnson Shastid and Sara Lorene Johnson Shastid. She was raised in Bennington, OK, and had lived in Brunswick since 1990. Mrs. Carrigan graduated from Coastal Georgia Community College in 2003, with honors, and an associates degree in nursing, and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She had been employed with Southeast Georgia Health System as a Registered Nurse, for 10 years, having worked in the Emergency Room and CCU. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry and was a member of Buck Swamp Hunting Club.
Survivors include, her husband of 40 years, Charlie Carrigan, children, Ted Wallace, Carla Miller (Donna), Amanda Ramos, and Michael Carrigan, all of Brunswick, Tammy Nash (Terry), Tracy Lee (John), and Charlie Carrigan (Amy), all of Maryland, a brother, Paul D. Shastid (Jo Ann), of Cooper, TX, 12 grandchildren including Shelli Fleischer, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Dave Shastid (Teresa) of TX, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hunt (Randy) of Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaleigh Miller, sisters, Helen Newsome and Molly Wilson, nephews, Jackie Newsome and Ted Jay Shastid, and her mother-in-law, Eleanor Rose Carrigan.
