Stewart Seals Austin , 87,of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at his residence.
Stewart was born May 17, 1934 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Hazel Seals and Harold Henry Austin. He was a talented musician who was classically trained at The Julliard School, and performed at numerous venues including Radio City Music Hall. Stewart shared his musical gift generously, serving as a band leader for Schwaebische Alb German Restaurant (New Jersey), and playing Trumpet as back-up for
The Platters.
He was
the owner of North Brunswick School of Music, and a member of the Musicians Guild of New Jersey, BPO Elks Lodge 691, American Legion Post 137 in Darien, and Holiday Beach Club of Waretown, New Jersey.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving longtime partner and caregiver Nancy Strickland, son, Stewart P. Austin (Susie) of Coco Beach, FL, three daughters, Barbara Prindle (Chuck) of Millsboro, DE, Cynthia Heitzenroder of Springville,PA, Joyce McWhorter (Mac) of Kings Mountain, NC, four step-children, Ken Waidelich of Carlistle,PA, Earl Waidelich, and Lynn Detwiler of PA, Patty Riley of Houston,TX, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Austin, two Grandsons, Matthew Eckardt, Brian McWhorter,and late wife Elaine.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 23, 2021, at 2:00pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Donald Parkhurst officiating. Active pallbearers will be Joey Higson, Mike Pittman, David Johns, Ron Hale, Glenn Brogdon, and Doug Einsel. Members of the Brunswick Elks Lodge 691, VFW post 2588, American Legion post 137 of Darien, Len Taylor, Dick Snell, Jim Nahodyl, Dr. ElsSharkawi & Staff, Hospice of the Golden Isles Staff, Nurse Natasha Kinnear, Kawanna Woods, social worker Melissa Haddock, and friends and neighbors of River Ridge will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
