With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Teresa Peterson Stockler, 75, of Brunswick, who departed this world on Friday, March 1, 2024.  She was a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and the heart of our family.  Teresa had a life filled with unwavering dedication to those she cherished most.

Teresa was born August 26, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois, to James and Mary Lou Peterson.  She graduated from Western Illinois University, earning a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel.  She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.

Teresa loved her children and grandchildren, was an avid reader, and was a devoted dog mom.  She lived in Brunswick since 2012, after retiring from Western Illinois University as an academic advisor.  Her family was the center of her universe.  Her love knew no bounds, and her legacy of love will forever be cherished by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Survivors include her children, Shannon Reese, of Melbourne, Australia; Tucker Reese of Largo, FL; Bethany Reese (Hassan Alzubady) of Locust Grove, VA; Amanda Brayman (Jerry), of Brunswick; grandchildren, Harper Brayman and Hattie Brayman, brothers, Steve Peterson, of Morongo Valley, CA; Chris Peterson (Sue) of Peoria, IL; John Peterson (Ileana) of Erie, CO; and Eric Peterson of Daphne, AL, nieces, Elissa Brown (Joe), and Sierra Peterson, and a nephew, Andrew Peterson.

Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Teresa Stockler.

A celebration of Teresa's life will be held for family members on Friday, March 8.
