Obituary

Thomas A. Boland Sr.,78, of Brunswick, GA passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021.
Tom was a Marine and Army veteran, having proudly served his country for thirty and a half years- deployed to five war zones during this period. During his time in the military, Tom also completed jump school at age of 57, being the oldest person to ever have done so in US Military history. After retiring as colonel from the military Tom served as State Attorney at the Department of Social Services in Columbia, SC protecting women's and children's rights, which was a lifelong passion. Tom and Rita relocated to Brunswick in 2012 for business reasons, after which Tom ended up serving as County Commissioner for the JWSC for a period of two years. Tom loved art, poetry, and reading, and was the author of his memoirs "Private Funnyman" published in 2018. This amazing book tells his life story and adventures in the most detailed and amazing way imaginable.
Tom leaves behind his wife Rita Boland, son Tab Boland, daughter and son-in-law Auret and Fred Cavedo, and brother Billy Boland.
The family will receive friends from 9:30- 11:30 am on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Chapel : 5951 Golden Isles Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525. Burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 17, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Tom's favorite charity the "Happy Trails Children's Foundation."
