Virginia Rogers Ellis, 82, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, died September 21, 2025, at her residence. She believed that "happiness is homemade" and embraced life with joy, generosity, and love for those around her.

Virginia was born September 18, 1943, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Frank Bloodworth Rogers and Helen Wannamaker Rogers. She was raised in Rome, Georgia, where she attended East Rome High School. Virginia graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She pursued a successful career in commercial real estate, eventually becoming a broker with Georgia Commerce Realty, where she was known for her integrity, vision, and dedication to her clients. She was a past President of the Women's Council of REALTORS for the State of Georgia.

Virginia lived by the guiding words of Shakespeare, a saying her father often shared: "This above all: to thine own self be true; and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man." She was committed to living fully and authentically, even living in France for a period and traveling extensively in Europe.

After time spent in Atlanta, Georgia, she moved to St. Simons Island, where she spent her remaining years. Virginia was a woman of strong faith, leadership, and deep devotion to her family. She often said, "Live where you are celebrated," a principle she embraced fully during her years in St. Simons Island.

Virginia was deeply engaged in her community and personal passions. She attended Christian Renewal Church and participated in prayer groups, and was a member of the Rotary Club of St. Simons Island and the Golden Isles Republican Women's Club. An artist at heart, Virginia discovered a love of painting in recent years, and her talent and creativity is reflected in her many marsh scenes.

Psalm 118:24 embodies her faith and love of life. "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." She added, "May we take faith, hope, and love to all we meet today."

She is survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth Horne Blalock and Frank Henry Horne; her granddaughter, Susan Vanhoose and her husband Max Vanhoose, great-granddaughters Macy and Addalynn; her sisters, Betty Austin, Sue Thomas, Helen Babb, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Marie Horne; her parents, Frank Bloodworth Rogers and Helen Wannamaker Rogers; and her beloved husband, Frampton Ellis. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christian Renewal Church, 6530 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522, on October 25, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Mike Murray officiating.
