Walter Albert Hoogacker, 83, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
A service, to celebrate his life, will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018, 3:00pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Hartzog officiating.
Walt was born June 7, 1934, in Inkster, MI, to Walter Charles Hoogacker and Alta Thomas Hoogacker. He had lived in Brunswick since 1970, was retired from Fountain Lake Apartments as maintenance technician. Most recently he drove for several auto dealerships in Brunswick. He was a member and Past Vice President of Diamond Bar D Saddle Club, member of the Hardee's 341 Breakfast Club, a regular attendant of the Woodbine Opry, and was a regular dancer with the Sears Manor Friday Morning Sings, and Thursday Night Nahunta Dance Club. Walt was full of fun, loved to make people laugh, and was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his children, Jean Hoogacker, Jeff Hoogacker, John Hoogacker, and George Lamb, a sister, Helen H. Fennel, a brother, Ed Hoogacker, grandchildren, Megan Hoogacker, Jay Charles Hoogacker, Jr., Jeffery Hoogacker, Jr., Darien Lawrence, Tim Lamb, Josh Lamb, Travis Hoogacker, Trevor Hoogacker, Trent Hoogacker, great grandchildren Hailey and Jay, several nieces and nephews, and his long time companion, Shelia Wilkes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hoogacker, brothers, Philip Thomas Hoogacker, and Jerry Henry Hoogacker, and a son, Jay Charles Hoogacker.
