William Austin 'Dub' Brown of Brunswick, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Memorial Hospital in Savannah on Tuesday, March 31st,2026, just days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

Dub was born on March 24, 1936 in Rhine, GA to John and Thelma Brown. He and his family relocated to Brunswick, GA in 1944, where he ultimately met the love of his life, Joyce Lee Billings, whom he married in December 1957.

Dub graduated from Glynn Academy in 1954, and Middle Georgia College in 1956, where he studied Mechanical Drawing. He was employed by Georgia Power Company for the entirety of his career after college.

He was an active member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors for many years, holding officer positions including treasurer.

Dub enjoyed being outdoors more than anything, savoring God's majestic beauty. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of the Crisco Hunt Club, where he held so many fond memories with his sons, and made many lifelong friends.

His favorite hobby was working in his yard, tending to his many flowers and trees, especially his daylilies. He had an affinity regarding this particular flower. He was an active member and participant in the Savannah Daylily Society. He had a garden full of daylilies, but his favorite by far was one he propagated himself, the 'Joyce Lee', a tribute to his late wife.

Dub was an avid prayer warrior. He spent every morning with his cup of coffee and prayer list, and prayed aloud fervently over all those that he knew were in need of prayer. He loved his Jesus, and trusted Him completely and without question.

Dub, or 'Poppie' as known by his family, is preceded in death by his beloved late wife Joyce Lee Brown, parents, John and Thelma Brown, and his sister Claudia Maxwell.

He is survived by his sister Sue Brown Baker, his children Lee Brown (Laura), Andy Brown (Pam), his grandchildren Austin Brown (Cate), Jacob Brown, and Aidan Brown, his great-grandchildren Piper, Elliot and Chandler, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services are planned for Tuesday,  April 7th at 2 pm at St Simons Christian Renewal Church, with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to service time. Interment to follow at Chapel Park Cemetery, Brunswick, GA.
